Celebrating 10 Years of Mullan Lighting
Today we celebrate 10 fantastic years in business. Established in 2009 in the remote and somewhat abandoned Mullan Village on the outskirts of Emyvale, Co. Monaghan, we set out with a goal to restore life not only to the old shoe factory but to the village as a whole.
In the midst of a recession, this would seem like an uphill battle to some. However, through hard work and determination we were able to bring a new sense of life into the historic Mullan Village.
Like most young businesses, at the beginning we had a small workforce that meant long, tiring hours, yet our goal of creating tailor-made light fixtures inspired us to continue. As each year passed, we continued to grow and more importantly learned from the previous year's failures.
We now export to over 55 countries globally. We have also been fortunate to act as lighting creators for various high scale projects, like Café en Seine in Dublin recently.
Our team of local designers, craftspeople and office personnel are now 70 strong and today we are delighted to announce the creation of 30 new jobs over the next two years.

10th Anniversary Celebrations
To mark this milestone, we invited around 50 special guests to our lighting factory here in Mullan Village to thank them for their suppot, guidance and business over the last ten years.
We are honoured that Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys joined us as a keynote speaker, as well as Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, who shared some inspirational words also.

We were also joined by some key clientele from the interior and commercial design industries, as well as members of the media.
The day began with a welcoming speech and brief history lesson delivered by company directors Mike and Edel Treanor. We outlined our growth to date and showcased some key projects we've completed over the years.
In conjunction with the announcement of 30 new jobs, we also shared our factory expansion plans with those in attendance. This will see the factory grow in size, providing more space to manufacture our light fixtures, allowing our processes to become more efficient and our lead times to be reduced.
Guests enjoyed our display of selected lights in our showroom and had the opportunity to network with other interior designers and media present.

We wanted our clients and guests to experience and better understand the manufactruing process at Mullan Lighting. We provided a tour of the factory that followed a hypothetical order as it made its way through the factory. Guests followed the order through each department and stage of the manufacturing process, with our craftsmen and craftswomen explaining their resprective roles in producing the light fixture. This highlighted the careful planning, attention to detail and quality measures that each order receives during production.
Afterwards, we held a 'Build Your Own Pendant' workshop. Guests were allowed to choose from a selection of prepared components and were guided through the process of assembling and testing their very own pendant that they then brought home with them at the end of the day.

A fun and gratifying day was appreciated by both our guests and employees. It offered an inspiring opportunity for our sales teams to chat with some of their loyal customers. We were delighted to share this special day with them.
